The Apple Festival Road Race is October 11, 2008, beginning at Ellijay Elementary School. Proceeds will go to the GFFAF Christmas Fund. We are currently seeking businesses and organizations as race sponsors. A donation of $250 or more will put your logo on the race t-shirt. This year we are also offering our sponsors a promotional table at the race expo. Contact race director Donna Bowling (706-636-3399) or GFFAF president Erin Byrd (678-522-8523) if you are interested in becoming a sponsor.
Thank you to Cartecay United Methodist Church and the Cartecay Thrift Store for donating $715.80 to GFFAF. Thanks to Lynda Bixby, Erin Byrd, Chad Corum, Charlotte, Kelly, Montana, and Ashley Withrow and their friend Kennedi for all their hard work on last Saturday for making it happen!
GFFAF will be selling concessions at the DEMA Movie Night Under the Stars on Saturday, August 30th. We need volunteers from 3 PM to 10 PM to help set up, sell food, and clean up. We also need a grill and 3 LARGE coolers. Contact Erin Byrd at 678-522-8523 or erinbyrd33@aol.com if you can help.

What is the purpose of GFFAF?
The purpose of the Association is to educate the community concerning foster care, bring together all foster parents, foster adoptive parents, agency representatives, and community resources that wish to work together for the betterment of foster children, to work with the community to secure support for the Association, foster and adopted children, and foster and adoptive parents.
How do I become a member?
You can become a member if you live in Gilmer County and are a licensed foster parent and/or are an adoptive parent of a child through foster care. Membership dues are $7.50 for a single parent and $15 for a married couple. Dues should be paid by January 31st. We meet the second Tuesday of each month at 7 PM at the Ellijay Church of Christ on North Main Street.

You can support foster and adopted children in the county by supporting GFFAF events and fundraising activities, by advocating for more support for DFCS from the local county government, and by donating money and items like school supplies, clothing, baby items and furniture, bikes, etc. GFFAF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible.
